Beautifully illustrated and filled with interesting cultural information as well as tempting recipes. It's nearly encyclopedic in scope as well - a hefty book obviously a labor of love.<br><br /><br><br />In several recipes so far I've found that I need to alter the quantities of various ingredients to hit a home run. The Irish Stew was simple but maybe the best I've ever had however the first time I made it I used all the potatoes and cream that the recipe called for and I didn't get a nice crust on top. Dial back the thickness of the potato layer and a little less cream (plus 2 cloves of garlic all minced up because that's how I roll) and then it was perfect. Likewise a 'bunch' of kale is apparently smaller in Ireland than here in Washington so my first crack at colcannon soup actually "tasted green" according to my guests. It was still good but next time I'm going to try with less kale.<br><br /><br><br />Also several dishes include ingredients hard to find in my city. I like it because it's the perfect shape and size for a nice round loaf of Irish soda bread (which is how it traditionally was made). The pan is pretty with Celtic knots on the handles and the color in person almost reminds me of Connemara marble. For under twenty dollars it was a nice gift. My mom seemed really pleased with it.
